Let’s Start With The Basics

True story: When I was younger, I hated getting dressed up. I’m not sure why, but I would only wear dresses to church, waited until high school to get my eyebrows waxed, and refused to wear mascara because it made my eyelashes look extremely long. In middle school, I wore a t-shirt and a flannel shirt every single day, and in high school, my makeup routine consisted of a small bit of foundation and maybe some blush. It’s not that I was a tomboy, I’ve always loved being outside and I played sports, but I also cheered and loved to sing, dance, and play dress-up as a small child. I think it was more of not wanting to draw attention to myself because I can be introverted and extremely shy. My mom would always tell me there would be a day when I wanted to dress up and she was going to refuse to buy me anything because for years she argued with me to wear something other than jeans.  And of course, she was right, because for some reason moms are always right. Once I was in college my style began to evolve, and by the time I made it through pharmacy school, where we had to dress professionally every day, I was ready to jump out of my comfort zone and tackle most trends that came along. It was mainly because I was maturing and becoming more comfortable in my skin, but it was also enjoyable and allowed me to show my creative side.  Today, finding new fashion that is affordable and comfortable but confidence-boosting and fun is my passion.

One of my favorite places to shop is Amazon because most pieces of clothing are super affordable, they have a huge selection of brands, and I can receive my order in just a few days. That’s why I decided to share a few of my favorite pieces as my first style post and hopefully show you how great Amazon can be.

Fun Night Out:

I recently wore this shirt to a bachelorette party and it was a hit. It is very comfortable; the material is soft and does not irritate even with a higher neckline. It’s also versatile; you can style the sleeves in several ways. It is TTS (I can wear both small and medium tops); I ordered a medium in the color black. My first thought was to wear with leggings but the hemline hits mid-waist so I paired with jeans and heels instead. I think you could wear this on a girl’s night out or pair it with sneakers for a fun date night.

The most comfortable dress pants:

Paper bag pants are IN and I’m here for it! I know there is a love/hate relationship with this style, but these pants can be flattering on any body type. They are high-waisted but fit loosely so if you have a “mom pooch” as I do, it doesn’t show. It is also accented with these cute bows to add just the right amount of flair.  I normally wear a size 4 (or 6-depending on the brand) in jeans. I bought a size medium and probably could have used a size small to give a little tighter fit. This is the color lavender blush but it looks very close to a light khaki.

Dresses for the win:

It is hard to find dresses that I can wear to church and/or wear on a date night with my husband or to lunch with friends.  Because I’m a mom, I don’t want to wear anything that is extremely short and too revealing but I also don’t want to dress like a pilgrim either and I want to feel confident in myself and what I have on.  I found some dresses that check all of the boxes on my list. I ordered both styles in a small and they fit great; the length is not too short and they are not too tight around my arms/shoulders. The first dress is in the color Floral-pink and the second one is in the color Blue. You can dress both of these up with heels or wear sandals for a casual day out.

Return of Spring:

I have a hard time finding transition pieces from winter to spring.  I live in southeastern North Carolina and the weather during this time can range from a 40-degree rainy day to an 80-degree beach day in 48 hours. It can also be 30-degrees in the morning and by lunch be 75; it is extremely hard to find something that’s versatile during this time of year.  It’s also during this time that I want to ditch all of my darker-colored staples to bright-colored ones and bring light back into my life. This shirt is perfect for spring transition and I love the pops of color. It is also available in other color options; they are all very pretty so I had a hard time choosing which one I wanted to purchase first. I am wearing a medium in the color B-rose. I like this style top loose because I have to wear a tank top underneath so a medium is perfect. I could have sized down to a small for a tighter fit.

Let’s get comfortable:

If there was ever the perfect loungewear, this is it! This is the MOST comfortable set and comes in a ton of different color options. I like to wear this around the house on my days off as loungewear or as pajamas, but you can also wear this while running errands because the fabric is thick enough you cannot see through it and breathable so you will not get hot on a cool day. I ordered in the color pink in a size medium because I like my pajamas loose, but if I were wearing it for a day out I would order a small for a more fitted size.
